On the one hand: Art Adams doing regular interior work again! Fuck yeah!
On the other: It’s Jeph Loeb writing in the Ultimate Universe. Fuck me!
I’m probably still going to buy it, but I don’t have to like it.
GENIUS!

Today's Free Comic Book Day Haul
Books from Alternative Comics, Fantagraphics, Oni, Top Shelf and DC (not all from this year’s offerings). I am decidedly NOT my shop’s typical customer…
My sad fanboy admission is that the one I’m REALLY looking forward to is the Green Lantern book. I might need to buy a tshirt for each of the rainbow Lanterns, they’re all so cool!
On the very happy side of the day, Buy Me Toys does an AMAZING job of providing a huge range of great stuff for the younger/all-ages croud and there were TONS of kids in the shop. There was also a lot of talk about what is really awesome right now in comics rather than the usual “everthing sucks” dork conversations that you usually overhear there.
Reality Check
You know, I feel like once you start seeking out and reading Legion of Superheros comics, it’s pretty much all over from there. You’ve reached a certian level of nerdom that really, there’s no coming back from… It’s kinda sad.
(But guys, for serious, Legion is pretty freaking awesome!)
“[On “52”] EIC Dan Didio, who first championed the concept, hated what we were doing. H-A-T-E-D ‘52.’ Would storm up and down the halls telling everyone how much he hated it. And Steve [Wacker, editor], God bless him, kept us out of the loop on that particular drama. Siglain, having less seniority, was less able to do so, and there’s one issue of ‘52’ near the end that was written almost totally by Dan and Keith Giffen because none of the writers could plot it to Dan’s satisfaction. Which was and is his prerogative as EIC, but man, there’s little more demoralizing than taking the ball down to the one-yard line and then being benched by the guy who kept referring to ‘Countdown’ as ‘52 done right.’”
